The  ASEAN Braille Conference & Technology Exhibition (ABC-Tech) 2024 , held on 13th and 14th December 2024 at Olympic Malaysia Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ABC-Tech 2024 was an inspiring and impactful event. With the theme  “Better Career Opportunities for Visually Impaired People with Braille Proficiency, Technology Application, and Family Support,”  the conference brought together participants from across ASEAN countries such as Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and of course, from our own local participants from Malaysia. Tragedi LRT - Hak OKU Tercabar

Tuan/Puan yang dihormati,  Minggu lepas, Sabtu 22/02/2025, komuniti OKU tersentak dengan berita kematian seorang cacat penglihatan akibat digilis train LRT di hentian Titiwangsa Kuala Lumpur. Saya selaku Pengerusi Kluster OKU MAKPEM bersama lain-lain pertubuhan OKU dan persatuan-persatuan membela kepentingan OKU, semua merasa kesal atas kemalangan tersebut. Komuniti OKU penglihatan menanggung dendam perasaan yang berbaur: sedih atas kehilangan rakan dan kawan lama, kecewa dengan sistem keselamatan dan kemudahan infrastruktur penyedia perkhidmatan pengangkutan awam negara kita, terkilan dengan kadar tanggungjawab petugas-petugas di stesen tersebut, resah dengan sikap kurang prihatin pengguna lain di situ terhadap pengguna buta yang bergerak sendirian dan juga, khuatir dengan keselamatan kami OKU yang mengguna kemudahan pengangkutan awam setiap hari untuk ke tempat kerja atau urusan-urusan lain.  Saya difahamkan mendiang Wong, lelaki buta 71 tahun, bergerak sendirian menggunakan...

The First KABA of 2025 - A Fantastic Start to the Year!

Kuala Lumpur, 25 JAN - we kicked off our first Braille course of the year, and what an incredible session it was! We were thrilled to welcome 10 participants from across the KL/Selangor state. This diverse group included parents of visually impaired children, occupational therapist, swim coach who is working with visually impaired students, and individuals simply eager to learn a new and valuable skill. Among the participants was our youngest student ever — a bright 12-year-old who was excited to dive into the world of Braille.  It was inspiring to see someone so young showing such interest for learning, and her presence added a unique energy to the class. We were also fortunate to have experienced professionals who brought different perspectives to the course, enriching the learning experience for everyone involved.
