KABA February 2025 - Building Braille Skills, Empowering the Communities

Kuala Lumpur, 22 FEB - We had a wonderful time in our KABA February Session, and we are excited to share some highlights! On 22nd February 2025, we welcomed two dedicated participants to our class. One of them is a Pembantu Pengurusan Murid Pendidikan Khas, who is eager to learn Braille and add a new skill to her repertoire. Having already taken a sign language course, she is excited to expand her knowledge and empower others through new forms of communication.

Our second participant is a dedicated person from Sarawak, who has traveled all the way to Kuala Lumpur to learn Braille. Her determination to learn, despite the long journey, is truly motivating. She is ready to break down barriers and gain the skills to support others in her community as she is willing to transcribe more books into Braille format.

Below is the group photo of our participants and our KABA team. We would like to congratulate our dedicated participants for their excellent work in mastering the basic of writing and reading in Braille.

Note: As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, we will be taking a break to observe the fasting season. Our KABA will resume after Eid, and we look forward to see more participants learning Braille! Stay tuned for more updates!

Tragedi LRT - Hak OKU Tercabar

Tuan/Puan yang dihormati,  Minggu lepas, Sabtu 22/02/2025, komuniti OKU tersentak dengan berita kematian seorang cacat penglihatan akibat digilis train LRT di hentian Titiwangsa Kuala Lumpur. Saya selaku Pengerusi Kluster OKU MAKPEM bersama lain-lain pertubuhan OKU dan persatuan-persatuan membela kepentingan OKU, semua merasa kesal atas kemalangan tersebut. Komuniti OKU penglihatan menanggung dendam perasaan yang berbaur: sedih atas kehilangan rakan dan kawan lama, kecewa dengan sistem keselamatan dan kemudahan infrastruktur penyedia perkhidmatan pengangkutan awam negara kita, terkilan dengan kadar tanggungjawab petugas-petugas di stesen tersebut, resah dengan sikap kurang prihatin pengguna lain di situ terhadap pengguna buta yang bergerak sendirian dan juga, khuatir dengan keselamatan kami OKU yang mengguna kemudahan pengangkutan awam setiap hari untuk ke tempat kerja atau urusan-urusan lain.  Saya difahamkan mendiang Wong, lelaki buta 71 tahun, bergerak sendirian menggunakan...

ASEAN Braille Conference & Technology Exhibition 2024

The  ASEAN Braille Conference & Technology Exhibition (ABC-Tech) 2024 , held on 13th and 14th December 2024 at Olympic Malaysia Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ABC-Tech 2024 was an inspiring and impactful event. With the theme  “Better Career Opportunities for Visually Impaired People with Braille Proficiency, Technology Application, and Family Support,”  the conference brought together participants from across ASEAN countries such as Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and of course, from our own local participants from Malaysia. This diverse group of participants created an incredible platform for networking, learning, and collaboration.
